An Art Space Odyssey

The idea & the making

An Art Space Odyssey explores curiosity and immersion through a responsive digital galaxy. Planets take on the colours and textures of my emotional paintings, while a participant’s body appears as a point cloud within the evolving space.

I tested planetary scale, density, movement and visual complexity, then explored how a body might generate or move through the field. Kinect tracks forward and backward movement to change the speed and viewpoint of the journey. Screen-based experiments show both a travelling perspective and the participant’s position in the wider universe.

I wanted the interaction to feel immediate: the body could navigate before it needed to understand an interface. The work became an experiment in how movement can shape a spatial narrative.
